tend your own garden

haha, been told that the blog is too emo. well, i like to think that i'm not so emo all the time. its just that saving your emotions in a blog is so much easier SOMEtimes than telling someone else about it; times when the confidante gives too many advices when all you need is a hug and "i'll be there for you" or vice versa. yup, yahdahdah i think i'm becoming anal, but dont get me wrong, i really do appreciate care and concern from people. it is major coolness. hahha
well, today i wanna talk abt smtg i read that i always wanted to share.
Advices. how many advices have we received in our lives? i dont know abt you, but i have heard countless of them. from teachers, parents especially and friends. yup, they tell you what you should do and you shouldnt, stuff that your lives could "benefit" from. the " " is not being sarcastic, its just means that its debatable. and how many times in life have we turned our backs on our own judgements and went ahead with others' judgement? i know i have done that so many times. its not that i regret any of them particularly much but it does make me wonder how different my life would be now if i never heeded any advices. would i really be in a far less stable state? yadahyada, the "coulda, shoulda, haveda" rubbish. but yeah, i think its smtg worth thinking abt. so yup, here's the story i read...

from my favorite author Paulo Coelho:
Looking at other people's gardens
"you can give a fool a thousand intellects, but the only one he'll want is yours", says an Arabic proverb. When we start planting the garden of our life, we glance to one side and notice our neighbor is there, spying. He himself is incapable of growing anything, but he likes to give advice on when to sow actions, when to fertilize thoughts and when to water acheivements.
If we listen to what this neighbor is saying, we will end up working for him, and the garden of our life will be our neighbor's idea. we will end up forgetting about the earth we cultivated with so much sweat and fertilized with so many blessings. we will forget that each centimetre of earth has its own mysteries that only the patient hand of the gardener can decipher. we will no longer pay attention to the sun, the rain, and the seasons; we will concentrate instead only on that head peeringat us over the hedge.
The fool who loves giving advice on our garden never tends his own garden at all.

yupp, thats it. i read it several times and each time, i derived a certain conclusion from it. i dont totally agree with one part though about how the neighbor is a fool who never tends his own garden at all. shall not go into that too much but yeah, arrive at your own conclusions aft reading it. i think its meaningful. i hope i have the courage and confidence to ignore the neighbor if i do believe strongly in what i'm doing is right the next time he pops his head over the hedge.
allrightieee, i'm finishing the last season of SATC, thats qte sad. cant wait for the movie!!!! i hope cambodia or bkk has it though. HAHA nightie night.
